The site was a former automotive garage & dealership built on previously landfilled ground.

In accordance with the WSP Environmental Remediation Strategy, and Marks & Spencer’s zero to landfill policy ‘Plan A’, Moorhead Excavations successfully reclaimed, reprocessed and re-used all excavated materials and ground obstructions.

Services Included:

• Concrete slabbing, surface hardstandings and relict foundations were grubbed out and crushed in situ to produce 6F2 for re-use as a site capping layer.

• Hydrocarbon impacted soils were removed to a ‘Soil Hospital’ for bio-remediation and subsequent use as restoration materials.

• 6nr Underground Storage Tanks were purged and waste oils removed for refining. Inert tanks were cold cut and removed for smelting.

• The remaining materials were re-used to make up levels on site or removed for use as colliery restoration soils within a 10km radius.
