The site was geotechnically problematic due to the existing ground comprising of soft, silty clays with a high moisture content.

Working with our strategic partner, TR Soil Stabilisation, Moorhead Excavations excavated a series of large on site balancing ponds generating 30,000 cubic metres of fill materials which were treated with lime and cement to make them suitable for engineering to raise the building plateau above the flood risk level. The plateau was stabilised to achieve in excess of 30% CBR providing a stable working platform for following trades.

65,000 square metres of External Hardstandings were then treated in situ to achieve 5% CBR prior to the importing and laying of granular capping and subbase. The full scope of site works carried by Moorhead Excavations.
